Measure the room around the sauna.

Keep internal and external dimensions separate.

External dimensions tell you how much space the enclosure occupies. Internal dimensions tell you how much room is available to sit and move. Neither alone confirms installation fit: roof overhangs, handles, connections or assembly steps can need additional space.

A stated person capacity is a useful filter, but it does not show how you will use the benches. Decide whether everyone will sit upright, whether someone wants to stretch out and how people will enter and leave the room.

Record these measurements.

A rough plan and a few photos are useful before a detailed survey. Label units and distinguish existing measurements from estimates.

• Available width, depth and height at the proposed location.
• Doors, stairs, gates and tight turns along the delivery route.
• Door swing and a clear route in and out of the sauna.
• Windows, vents, nearby equipment and service access.
• Floor level changes and any overhead restrictions.

Let the selected manual set the clearances.

There is no single clearance that applies to every cabin and heater. Use the current installation instructions for the selected configuration. Your installer should check how the enclosure, heater, controls, sensors and ventilation work together before you commit to the location.

For a custom room, agree on the bench arrangement and heater position during design. Changes to glazing, enclosure construction or room size may affect equipment selection. Confirm those choices together rather than ordering a heater from the floor area alone.

Test the layout before ordering.

Mark the proposed footprint and door swing on the floor. Check the route with the doors open and picture the room in everyday use. For a kit, also confirm the space needed to assemble it; fitting the completed cabin into a corner does not prove it can be built there.
